Senior Technical Support Engineer 1 - Service Delivery Applications_MB30
Senior Engineer – Wellhead Seal Subject Matter Expert (Contract)
Location: Houston, TX
Contract Duration: 6 months
Pay Range: Not to exceed $150 - $200/hr
Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Subject Matter Expert in high-pressure metal annulus seals and wellhead/tree equipment to support new product engineering efforts. This is a contract role based in Houston, TX, ideal for a seasoned professional with deep technical expertise and a strong background in the oil & gas industry.
Key Responsibilities:

Analyze and interpret engineering specifications and requirements

Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) on assemblies with sealing components

Design and specify materials and geometries for metal annulus seals
-
Develop and review qualification test procedures
-
Support on-site testing within the Houston area
-
Troubleshoot manufacturing and test issues and recommend effective solutions

Provide mentorship and technical guidance on wellhead sealing systems
Success Criteria:
-
Completion of a successful PR2F and customer qualification test for a new wellhead seal

Delivery of all required design verification and validation documentation
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
-
15+ years of experience in the oil & gas sector, including wellhead system design
-
In-depth knowledge of API 6A and/or API 17D
-
Expert-level proficiency in ANSYS for FEA
-
Demonstrated experience developing metal annulus seals
-
Understanding of vendor capabilities for metal and elastomeric sealing solutions

Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow structured engineering processes
