Mechanical / Piping Engineer (Data Center | EPC)

Location: Houston, TX (Local Candidates Only – No Relocation)
Job Type: Direct Hire
Compensation: $90,000 – $135,000 Base + 10%–20% Bonus




Job Overview

We are hiring a Mechanical / Piping Engineer (2–10 years experience) to support the design and execution of hyperscale data center projects within an EPC modular engineering environment. This role is responsible for mechanical and piping systems across design, fabrication, construction, and commissioning phases.




Key Responsibilities

  • Review and approve mechanical and piping designs, drawings, and documentation
  • Perform piping stress analysis and flexibility studies
  • Develop engineering deliverables including:
    • Equipment lists, valve lists, piping line lists
    • Mechanical datasheets, calculations, and reports
    • Material Take-Offs (MTOs) and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Prepare technical requisitions and support vendor evaluations
  • Ensure compliance with ASME, ANSI, NFPA, OSHA, and other applicable standards
  • Support manufacturing, construction, and commissioning teams
  • Troubleshoot installation and field issues as needed
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and provide technical guidance
  • Participate in design reviews and client-facing meetings
  • Contribute to innovative solutions that improve cost, quality, and performance



Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 2–10 years of mechanical/piping engineering experience
  • Experience with EPC and modular engineering design
  • Data center project experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Piping systems design, routing, and stress analysis
    • Mechanical equipment (chillers, pumps, cooling systems, vessels, etc.)
    • Fire protection and suppression systems



Required Technical Skills

  • CAESAR II
  • NozzlePro
  • FEPipe
  • Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint)
  • PDF tools (Adobe, Foxit, or equivalent)



Preferred Skills

  • AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360
  • SolidWorks
  • SAP or similar ERP systems
  • COMPRESS, Pipe Data Pro, 3E Plus



Certifications (Preferred)

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Comfortable supporting field activities, site visits, and commissioning efforts
  • Self-driven with strong attention to detail and quality
