Pay Rate: $30–50/hr
Duration: 1-Year Contract (extension possible)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical / Structural Designer to support engineering and design activities related to hyperscale data center module projects. This role will work closely with Engineers and Engineering Managers to produce detailed mechanical, piping, and structural drawings, BOMs, layouts, and technical documentation while ensuring compliance with engineering standards and customer requirements.

The ideal candidate will have strong EPC modular drafting and design experience, proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD, and prior experience supporting data center or industrial infrastructure projects.



Key Responsibilities

  • Create and review mechanical, piping, and structural drawings and BOMs based on customer requirements
  • Prepare bulk MTOs (Material Take Offs) and detailed BOMs independently
  • Ensure drawings comply with engineering, QA/QC, and industry standards
  • Develop layouts and technical drawings for equipment installations and system functionality
  • Produce deliverables including:
    • Piping layouts and isometrics
    • Structural general arrangements
    • Weld and connection details
    • Foundation and equipment support drawings
    • Pipe support details
    • HVAC ducting
    • P&IDs and flow diagrams
    • Platform, ladder, walkway, and stair drawings
  • Assist troubleshooting efforts by simulating issues through drawings/models
  • Prepare Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) sequence drawings and procedures
  • Compile installation procedures for customer submissions
  • Coordinate and supervise outsourced engineering/design work
  • Review vendor drawings and documentation for compliance
  • Generate reports from models and provide design support to project teams and clients
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and lessons learned processes


Required Qualifications

  • Technical Certification in a design-related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience supporting mechanical, piping, and structural design projects
  • Experience in hyperscale data centers or similar industrial environments strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of EPC modular drafting and design
  • Experience producing engineering sketches and technical drawings
  • Knowledge of CAD and BIM software platforms
  • Familiarity with industrial standards and codes such as ASME, OSHA, ASTM, AWS, NFPA, AISC, and ASHRAE
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments

  • PDF Editing Software (Adobe, Foxit, etc.)
  • Microsoft Office 365 Suite

  • SAP ERP (Engineering Modules)

  • Autodesk BIM 360
  • Experience with high-density or hyperscale data center environments
