Project Manager II

Job Title: Project Manager II – Substation Optimization
Location: Asheville, NC 28804 (On-site)
Pay: $79.50 – $84.00 per hour
Job Type: Contract

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager II (PM-II) to support Distribution Substation Optimization projects in the Carolinas West (Mountains Zone). This role is responsible for leading and supporting all phases of project planning and execution to ensure success across scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety, and stakeholder engagement. The PM-II will manage a portfolio of low-to-moderate risk projects and act as a central point of coordination across cross-functional teams.

• Lead, coordinate, and manage cross-functional project teams including engineering, construction, supply chain, and regulatory groups
• Plan projects including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management
• Execute projects within approved scope, cost, and timeline constraints
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory standards
• Maintain strong communication with stakeholders, leadership, and external partners
• Provide regular status updates, reporting, and documentation in alignment with project standards
• Support procurement strategies, contractor management, and project closeout activities

Required:

• Utility industry experience
• Proven experience in project management

Preferred:

• Electric distribution or transmission experience
• Maximo experience
• EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) experience
• Strong Excel skills
