Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Forklift Operator to join our warehouse team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for efficiently operating heavy equipment, including forklifts, cranes, clamp trucks, and pallet jacks, to facilitate the safe movement and handling of materials. This role requires a strong understanding of warehouse operations, safety standards such as OSHA regulations, and experience with warehouse management systems. The Forklift Operator plays a vital part in ensuring smooth shipping, receiving, order picking, and inventory management processes within a fast-paced distribution environment.
Duties
- Operate forklifts, clamp trucks, order pickers, and other heavy equipment to load and unload materials
- Safely handle materials during shipping & receiving operations
- Use RF scanners and warehouse management systems for accurate inventory tracking and order picking
- Perform heavy lifting tasks as required for materials handling
- Assist with order picking and stacking to fulfill customer orders efficiently
- Maintain safety standards in accordance with OSHA regulations and company policies
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any issues
- Support warehouse activities such as moving pallets, organizing storage areas, and preparing shipments
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize workflow and ensure compliance with safety protocols
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating forklifts, cranes, clamp trucks, pallet jacks, and other heavy equipment in a warehouse or construction setting
- Knowledge of warehouse distribution processes including shipping & receiving, order picking, and materials handling
- Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and RF scanners for inventory control
- OSHA certification or knowledge of OSHA safety standards preferred
- Strong physical ability for heavy lifting and prolonged standing or walking throughout the warehouse
- Prior experience in warehouse supervision or as an order picker is a plus
- Valid certification for forklift operation; additional certifications such as crane operation are advantageous
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while adhering to safety protocols
