Job Title: Pay and Tax Specialist
Location: Houston, TX 77079
End-Client: Large Oil & Gas Company
Pay: $30 - $35.47/hr.
Benefits: Comprehensive benefits (401K, Health, Dental, and Vision) through Icon Consultants are available)
Length of Assignment: 7 – months possible to extend
Role Synopsis
As a Payroll Tax Specialist, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Calculating tax deductions for payroll runs
- Helping employees on all tax or payroll matters
- Maintaining knowledge of current tax regulations and ensuring the payroll tax team remains updated on changes.
- Submitting monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax files to governing bodies and ensuring they are approved in time.
- Assisting the accounting team with year-end processes, such as W2 reviews, tax auditing, and service reports.
- Reviewing employee time-keeping records and ensuring calculated amounts are as per recorded time logs.
- Corresponding with tax authorities to ensure voluntary and involuntary deductions are being filed as per corporate guidelines.
- Ensuring payroll integrity by reviewing tax-related paperwork and conducting internal audits to check for compliance.
- Addressing queries employees may have regarding tax compliance, insurance claims, and other deductibles
The ideal candidate for this role must be:
1. A payroll expert with extensive knowledge of regional taxation laws, compliance requirements, and corporate policies.
2. They should have excellent analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills to identify payroll-related tax issues and compliance errors.
3. Proficiency in payroll management systems and Microsoft Office Suite is also essential.
4. Candidates who are familiar with IRS guidelines, payroll analytics, and other computational skills are preferred
5. At least two years' experience working in payroll
6. Expert knowledge of Excel
7. Payroll processing - Global View or ADP products desirable & Tax experience
