Responsibilities
Reports to SAP MRP Planning Manager in the North America Subsea Projects Services department. Plans, schedules, monitors, executes and controls key support functions, manufacturing sources and suppliers to meet scheduled shipments in a quality and cost-effective manner. Monitors and schedules the flow of materials, components, assemblies, and inventory. Performs detailed inventory analyses and addresses problems in an effort to keep system data accuracy high, excess inventory minimized, and manufacturing plans on schedule.
  • Works without regular direct supervision.
  • Works on semi-complex products that may require some new engineering and design and may be larger in scope.
  • Conducts broad-scope inventory analyses, and able to make decisions or recommendations based on that analyses.
  • Executes inventory analysis and supports inventory utilization and availability through management of Safety Stock, procurement lots and master data with minimal assistance from the Planning Lead or Manager.
  • Adapts quickly to perform other roles within Planning department with little instruction and oversight.
  • Regularly interfaces with Materials department, Engineering, Manufacturing, Fabrication and Project teams when making decisions or resolving issues requiring creative solutions.
  • May be required to lead small groups of planners and other functions in specific planning and problem-solving activities and Process Improvement efforts.
  • Identifies improvement opportunities and suggests solutions to issues related to or including Material Planning and execution.
  • Assist in implementation of process improvement efforts once approved by the necessary management teams.
  • Provides direction to other functions within organization (Fabrication team, Engineering, project teams, supply chain, etc.) on proper execution of Project or Fabrication Scope and engineering activities as it relates to production.
 
Main Tasks
  • Enters and releases milestone sales orders into ERP system at the direction of the Project Manager and Planning Lead or Manager.
  • Determines the sources of the components (to make or to buy) per current Houston operation sourcing strategy and inputs into the system to notify manufacturing, fabrication and supply chain teams of project demands.
  • Maintains sales order due dates based on the Project schedule and Manufacturing/Fabricator Capacity Slots and updates due dates as the master schedule changes.
  • Updates the manufacturing/fabrication execution plan for assigned projects to ensure that parts are produced or purchased as needed and in the proper sequence.
  • Reports manufacturing/fabrication status to the Project Team.
  • Assists with the project team effort to synchronize project priorities and Engineering design release dates to ensure acceptable procurement and manufacturing/fabrication schedules.
  • Monitors the flow of inventory through assigned projects.
  • Avoids creation of excess inventory and makes recommendations for substitutions & alternates, where possible, to use and to reduce existing inventory.
  • Interfaces with Engineering to define the manufacturing bill of material (BOM). Works with Engineering to establish release schedules.
  • Performs and documents an inventory review at project closing and completes all activities related to the Project closeout checklist.
  • Coordinates with Engineering on ECN’s as they affect inventory and schedules and completes the ZIMPACT analysis and report per the Global work instructions.
  • Analyzes supply and demand of inventory and long-lead parts and takes corrective actions as needed to alleviate schedule impacts or excess inventory.
  • Provides timely updates to the Project Schedulers on Procurement and Fabrication activities within assigned Project Primavera Schedules.
  • Analyzes inventory for supply/demand mismatches, takes appropriate action to correct.
  • Analyzes and corrects excess supply orders in the ERP system.
  • Assists in training of new Material Planners/Project Coordinators of functional responsibilities.
  • Makes recommendations to Management of system improvements to support functional areas.
  • Reviews Excess Inventory of Project and Non-Project parts and recommends actions to be taken.
  • Systematic kitting and shipment of components required for Projects to applicable offsite locations.
  • Submission of setout requests for subcontract work orders.
  • Systematic kitting of traceable drop shipment components to Fabrication Yards for subcontract work orders upon receipt of Weld Matrix/ATA from the on-site Quality team.
  • Management of material staging areas at Fabrication yards for required components of on-going Project Fabrication scopes.
  • Identification of job #’s & Project information for incoming free issued materials at Fabrication yards, inclusive of drop shipment materials, and coordination of material movement to appropriate inventory control area as needed.
  • Work Order Operation Management, Operation Final Confirmations and work order goods receipts for work order closeout on drop shipment orders. This is inclusive of all quality set-out and Final Inspection operations upon receipt of final sign-off documentation from the on-site Quality inspection team.
  • Follow-up on Quality Notifications for assigned Project scopes.
  • Updating of subcontract work orders with additional part requirements or work scope resulting from Class 1 ECN’s and working with the Project and Fabrication Teams to get additional materials delivered and work scope completed in alignment with Project schedule.
  • Management of insulation materials required for assigned project scopes.
 
***Preferred Skills and Must Haves***
  • Strong Fabrication Background
  • Large Structures exp. (does not have to be Subsea)
  • Experience with Material Flows Analysis, Production Phases
  • Strong Technical Background
  • SAP experience is a plus
  • MRP/ERP knowledge (Oracle is a plus)
  • Year of Experience: 3yrs+ (Experience level II)
 
Requirements
  • BS in related field preferred, or equivalent years of experience.
  • Generally 5+ years of experience performing inventory analysis, supply/demand analysis and reconciliation, and/or manufacturing/materials planning, scheduling, production control or procurement with working knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of typical procurement, manufacturing and fabrication processes, as well as a thorough understanding of typical ERP system capabilities, inputs, and outputs.
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturing routings and identify when changes need to be made.
  • Understands BOM structures and supply/demand information related to sales order items.
  • Understands system shortage reports and accurately ascertains critical path issues preventing on time delivery to Project requirement dates.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills, and strong negotiation skills in order to interact with suppliers and co-workers.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a high volume environment.
  • PC skills including proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing applications.
  • Extensive SAP system experience and understanding in manufacturing and procurement. SAP MD04 command mastery is preferred.
  • P6 experience in a similar position preferred.
  • Experience with PowerBI a plus.
 
Work Environment
Office environment with frequent trips to the shop, supplier or Fabricator facilities and other plant locations. Some exposure to possible shop and Fabrication yard hazards including high noise, heavy machinery and shop traffic. Fast paced environment with repetitive transactions. Multiple priorities and constant change.
 
Physical Demands
Frequent walking and standing in shop or fabricator facility during project stages. Frequent sitting and operating PC.
