Computer Operator
IT Data Center Technician
Pay Rate: $26/hr
Schedule: 6:15 AM – 2:15 PM
Days Off: Most likely Tuesday and Wednesday
This position supports a large enterprise data center environment and is responsible for assisting with the physical deployment, installation, and maintenance of server infrastructure. The role focuses heavily on hardware installation, rack and stack activities, cable management, and physical data center operations, rather than traditional desktop support.
The team supports a 24/7 global infrastructure environment, so candidates must be comfortable working weekends, holidays, and during severe weather events when required.
Key Responsibilities
• Rack and stack enterprise servers and hardware equipment within data center racks
• Perform structured cable management and cable routing for server infrastructure
• Install and connect servers, storage systems, and network hardware
• Assist with data center build-outs and hardware deployments
• Perform hardware replacements and infrastructure upgrades
• Document rack layouts, cable runs, and equipment installations
• Assist with troubleshooting server hardware and connectivity issues
• Support internal engineering teams during infrastructure deployments
• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant data center environment
Technical Environment
• Enterprise servers
• Network switches and routers
• Fiber and copper cabling
• Data center racks and enclosures
• Infrastructure monitoring tools
Required Skills
• Experience working in data center environments
• Experience with rack and stack server deployments
• Knowledge of structured cabling and cable management
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware and connectivity issues
• Basic familiarity with Linux or Windows systems
• Strong documentation and communication skills
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
• At least 6 months of data center, infrastructure technician, or hardware deployment experience
• Experience installing servers, running cables, or supporting infrastructure environments
Physical Requirements
• Ability to crawl under raised floors and work in tight rack environments
• Ability to lift and move equipment up to 25 pounds
• Ability to stand, crouch, and work around server racks for extended periods
