Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and customer-focused Scale House Attendant / Scale Operator to serve as the first point of contact for customers depositing waste materials at the facility. This role is responsible for weighing and processing incoming loads, handling customer transactions, monitoring site safety, and performing administrative support duties within the scale house environment.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working in an industrial environment, and able to provide strong customer service while maintaining safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers and direct incoming traffic throughout the facility
- Accurately calculate and process customer payments
- Inspect incoming loads to ensure materials comply with site regulations and safety standards
- Monitor customer and employee adherence to PPE and safety requirements
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the scale house area
- Complete filing, reporting, and other administrative tasks
- Perform data entry and basic customer service support duties
- Communicate operational issues or concerns to leadership promptly
- Attend required company trainings and meetings
- Support additional duties and overtime needs as assigned
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED
- 0–4 years of related experience
- Basic computer and data entry skills
- Strong communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to work in an industrial/outdoor environment
Preferred
- Previous scale house, cashiering, dispatching, logistics, warehouse, or administrative support experience
- Experience handling payments or transaction processing
- Familiarity with safety procedures and PPE requirements
Work Environment
- Combination of office/scale house and outdoor work environment
- Exposure to dirt, odors, noise, weather conditions, and industrial surroundings
- Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds
- Frequent keyboarding and administrative work
- May occasionally encounter physical occupational hazards common to industrial environments
