Sonographer - Senior
Sonographer – Senior (As-Needed / PRN)
Schedule: As-needed; primarily PTO coverage and weekend support. Hours may vary between part-time and full-time depending on department needs.

Job Summary
The Senior Sonographer performs diagnostic cardiac and vascular ultrasound exams for research participants, independently operating sonography equipment and communicating findings for both clinical and research purposes. This role also supports protocol adherence, quality assurance, and occasional training of junior staff.
Key Responsibilities

Perform cardiac and vascular ultrasound exams in accordance with established clinical and research guidelines.

Evaluate, synthesize, and communicate diagnostic findings to physicians.

Produce high-quality echocardiographic exams and collaborate with cardiology staff to support accurate diagnoses of complex congenital and acquired pediatric conditions.

Provide preliminary diagnostic assessments to physicians.

Maintain strict patient confidentiality and ensure an optimal patient experience.

Support research initiatives through data collection and participation in research projects.

Review, train, and coach junior Sonographers on processes and procedures.

Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
-
Associate’s degree in a related field — Required
Experience
-
5+ years of experience in echocardiography and vascular sonography — Required
Licenses & Certifications
-
Registered Cardiac Sonographer (ARDMS or CCI) — Required

Registered Vascular Sonographer (ARDMS or CCI) — Required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Advanced knowledge of cardiac and vascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology.

Ability to apply complex sonography concepts, practices, and procedures across varied situations.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to strict protocols.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; positive, professional demeanor.
