Position Summary
The Supply Chain Planner I supports both Raw Material (RM) and Finished Good (FG) inventory planning for PPG’s U.S. manufacturing sites. Working under the direction of the Senior Planner and Supply Chain Director, this role plays a key part in the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) framework — collaborating across teams to align sales forecasts, production schedules, capacity planning, and procurement activities.
This is a hands-on position requiring strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with daily exposure to SAP, IBP, and Excel-based planning tools.
Key Responsibilities
Raw Material (RM) Planning
- Place purchase orders with vendors and monitor delivery status through the full order cycle.
- Analyze MRP/action messages to ensure timely procurement of materials (focus: short to mid-term ≤6 months).
- Communicate supply issues and collaborate with Procurement and Operations teams for resolution.
- Maintain adequate raw material levels to meet SAP production schedules.
- Partner with warehouse and purchasing teams to resolve receiving, invoicing, or quality issues.
- Manage assigned RM inventory to meet health and turnover goals.
Finished Goods (FG) Supply Planning
- Create and manage supply plans in IBP/SAP to balance supply and demand across a 12-month horizon.
- Monitor demand forecast and production changes, adjusting plans to maintain accurate inventory projections.
- Maintain FG inventory health and participate in monthly SIOP Supply Reviews and Rough-Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) meetings.
- Update and validate system planning parameters per review cycles.
- Collaborate on improvement projects that deliver supply chain cost or efficiency savings.
- Investigate and correct physical vs. system inventory discrepancies.
- Identify slow-moving, obsolete, or excess inventory and recommend corrective actions.
- Manage supply plans and purchase orders for new product launches, trials, transfers, and phase-outs.
- Support other Supply Chain initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or related field required.
- 1–3 years of experience as a Planner, Buyer, or Supply Chain Professional (entry-level considered).
- Proficiency in SAP and IBP or similar planning systems preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs required).
- Experience with Power BI, SQL, or AI-based analytics tools is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize, and collaborate across departments.
- Must be willing to work onsite, 5 days per week.
