AGAS Production Technician ASU
Production Technician II – Air Separation Unit (ASU)
Location: Armorel, AR 72310
Schedule: Swing Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7AM–7PM Central)
Duration: 18-Month Contract | Onsite Position
Estimated Start Date: ASAP
Note: Some ASU experience is required

General Summary
The Production Technician II is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and optimization of Airgas Merchant Gas production facilities. This includes maintaining plant production efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and upholding safety standards.
The role operates both independently and collaboratively, performing outside/truck loading, board operations, compressor start-up/shutdown, and Air Separation Unit (ASU) system monitoring.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Operational Duties
-
Perform outside/truck loading, basic board operations, compressor start-up/shutdown.

Conduct warm plant start-ups for ASU/NLU/LCO /HPN systems and routine VSA start-ups.

Execute minor maintenance, manage local spare parts, issue Safe Work Permits, and lead Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and pre-job briefings.

Apply process safety programs, support root cause analysis, and document incidents in Intelex.

Ensure contractor/vendor training compliance and maintain proper documentation.

Adhere to all local/federal regulations including FDA, OSHA, EPA, DOT, and cGMP.
Communication & Collaboration

Coordinate with national and local product scheduling teams to ensure on-time delivery and complete accurate reports/documentation.

Communicate effectively with site management, contractors, and customers regarding production activities.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
-
Model and promote a strong safety culture; complete Airgas Safety Pledge and required HSES training.

Participate in MOC, PSSR, and QIR processes.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
-
Associate degree or equivalent technical training (required)
-
Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
Experience
-
1+ year of related ASU operations experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
-
Proficient in HMI screens/control stations
-
Familiar with work order systems and SAP or Lucene Image Retrieval (LIRE)
-
Ability to implement Emergency Action Plans
-
Can operate plant systems in steady state and emergency conditions
-
Understands interlock schedules, P&IDs, and plant schematics
-
Strong English communication (written and verbal, 12th grade level minimum)

Mechanically inclined with strong troubleshooting ability

Ability to lift up to 60 lbs

Work rotating shifts and be on call as required

Must wear PPE including respirator protection as needed

Willingness to travel for training or temporary site support
