Paralegal
Job title: Paralegal
Hours: Monday - Friday 8am-5pm EST (Hybrid)
Location: Charlotte area, possible travel to Raleigh
Education: Associate's Degree required
Duration: 8-month contract
Pay: $30-35/hr (with benefits!)
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal to support discovery responses, supplemental filings, and rebuttal filings related to utility rate cases. The ideal candidate must have utility industry experience and a solid understanding of the state regulatory rate case process and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Discovery and Documentation:

Review and examine discovery sources such as databases to prepare responses and use them to support interrogatories and amendments to rate case filings.

Assess and inventory rate case documents, matrices, and data to support case-related activities.

Investigate facts applicable to the utility case to determine causes of action and prepare related project documents.
Document Preparation and Coordination:

Prepare requisite rate case documentation and ensure proper maintenance of document files and repositories.

Coordinate expert meeting requests to support party requests.

Act as the document librarian, ensuring repository volumes are kept up-to-date.
Data Analytics and Reporting:

Conduct analytics using data, similar to forensic accounting, to support the rate case process.

Strong focus on Excel, with proficiency in SharePoint and potentially Power BI for data analysis and presentation.
General Support:

Assist with coordination tasks and ensure timely and efficient document flow.

Be prepared to travel occasionally within the Charlotte and Raleigh areas as needed.
Qualifications:

Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word. Excel testing will be required prior to SSA's and sent to suppliers.

Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain detailed, accurate records.

Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
-
Excellent coordination and communication skills are essential.
