About the Role:
As a UI/UX Developer, you will be the driving force behind creating ADA-compliant, responsive web and mobile interfaces. You'll work closely with business and technology stakeholders to translate UX designs into fully functional front-end solutions, ensuring alignment with accessibility standards such as WCAG, ADA, and Section 508. Your expertise will support the ongoing enhancement of our design system, ensuring it is inclusive, scalable, and aligned with industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Research, design, develop, test, and implement UI/UX solutions, translating designs into semantic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code that meet WCAG & ADA standards.
• Act as both designer and developer, providing subject matter expertise on high-visibility projects.
• Build and maintain accessible, responsive websites and applications, supporting new components, defect fixes, and page templates within the customer-facing design system.
• Collaborate with analysts, developers, and architects to ensure successful project execution within the SDLC.
• Stay current with emerging UI frameworks, trends, and tools; recommend innovative techniques to improve usability and accessibility.
• Create wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes to visualize design concepts and facilitate usability testing.
• Develop reusable, cross-browser compatible UI components using frameworks such as React.js, Vue.js, Angular, or jQuery.
• Write clean, maintainable, and industry-standard code following best practices.
• Drive the conceptualization and development of user-centered design strategies.
• Address cross-browser compatibility and accessibility issues proactively.
• Participate in usability reviews and user testing to validate design effectiveness.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED required; relevant technical training or certifications preferred.
• Extensive hands-on experience in front-end web development, with proficiency in Java, JavaScript, React, Vue.js, Angular, or similar frameworks within LAMP/MEAN/MERN stacks.
• Strong understanding of human-centered design principles, usability testing, and accessibility standards (WCAG, ADA, Section 508).
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Knowledge of content management systems such as Adobe Experience Manager, SharePoint, or WordPress is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

• UI/UX design certifications or specialized training.
• Previous experience within the Electric and Gas Utility industry.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Familiarity with human-centered design techniques, research, and usability.
